The Journal is written by the people behind the counter at London Harness & TUMI Wellesley.
London Harness traces its roots to 1776 and describes itself as the country’s first luggage retailer. Today the shop sits at 45 Central Street in Wellesley, Massachusetts, home to London Harness and TUMI Wellesley under one roof, with luggage, backpacks, handbags, leather goods, travel accessories and gifts from TUMI, Briggs & Riley, MZ Wallace, Furla, Bosca, Secrid, Orbitkey and others.
The shop is owned by Demian Wendrow and co-owner Amy Lynch, who began working together in 2001.

Why a journal
Every day, people ask us the same good questions. Will this fit in the overhead bin? Should I check a bag or carry on? What do you buy for someone who already owns everything? The Journal is where we write down the answers, along with the tips we share across the counter. When we mention a piece, it is because it solves a real problem. Every product links to its page on tumiwellesley.com, with prices as listed there at the time of writing.
A long history
In 1905 the London Harness Company was at 200 Devonshire Street in Boston, “makers and importers of every known requisite in leather.” The tools and the travelers have changed a great deal since then. The work has not: helping people carry what matters, well.
In 2026 the shop launched its Carry the Legacy campaign and held its 12th annual Case for Giving luggage drive. Read more on our heritage page.
